Due to the lack of recognized standards within New Zealand Clean Air Management has researched available standards around the world. We have identified two of the most recognized and use these as the base for our cleaning regime.
The risk of fire from build up of grease deposits in kitchen extract systems and the expectations of building occupiers & insurance company's have resulted in an ever more stringent level of kitchen extract cleanliness being required.

(UK) HVAC Internal Cleanliness of Ventilation Systems
TR/19 was published in order to give guidance to good practice and to establish standards for testing, cleaning and verification of the internal cleanliness of ventilation systems.
NFPA 96 (2008 Edition)
(USA) Standard for Ventilation Control and Fire Protection of Commercial Cooking Operations
NFPA 96 is the recognised standard in the USA for cleaning Kitchen Extract systems.

(UK) Recommendations for fire risk assessment of Catering extract Ventilation
The assessment will give an indication of the risks involved with your system and high light any improvements needed to reduce your risk.
