US Embassy
A new state-of-the-art high security US Embassy building was constructed in Fiji's capital of Suva on a six-acre site. The development incorporated three levels of offices (NOB) and associated compound buildings.
Systems
- NOB building: two floors VAV boxes supplied by two high filtration air handlers and a fresh air handler using two air cooled chillers;
- Basement plant rooms with chilled water air handlers;
- Security and compound buildings served with ducted split systems.
The project
This project was unusual due to the strict levels of security all involved in the building process were required to adhere to.
There was a very high level of detailed documentation for product submissions, plus very detailed specification based on American products and methods which proved challenging to interpret, source and procure.
The installation process was complex due to very high floor to slab heights and potential clashes in crowded ceiling space due to other trades immense number of pipes, trays and conduits.
High levels of supervision were required on this project due to the use of local, inexperienced labour.
Airpro staff was also sent to Fiji to assist on this development.
