University of Auckland Medical School

The University of Auckland's Faculty of Medical Health Sciences is a five-level campus located near Auckland City Hospital in Park Rd.

Systems

Fan coil unit systems with some VAV systems along with constant volume systems provided air-conditioning to the various areas depending on the usage and level of control necessary to maintain laboratory conditions.

The project

Airpro Mechanical was involved in the complete rebuild of two laboratories on Level 5 of the building. A complex project, it was successfully completed and commissioned to allow the client to maintain occupation as programmed. A special non-vibrating drill was used to stop any vibration and noise and ensure major long term experiments being conducted were not compromised.

The work included the installation of fully reticulated laboratory gases and new fume cupboards for teaching, write up and research areas.

The laboratories are kept at a constant negative pressure to ensure containment, and are monitored and controlled by a sophisticated BMS automated system.
