Fisher & Paykel Healthcare

This large building is the size of four rugby fields and houses Fisher & Paykel Healthcare. The company is a world leader in the design, manufacture and marketing of heated humidification devices used in respiratory care and in the treatment of obstructive sleep apnoea. The company exports to more than 110 countries.

Systems

Water cooled chillers and hot water boilers serve 50 large air handling units mounted in the ceiling space on plant platforms. The air systems were a mixture of VAV and constant volume systems depending on the conditioned space requirements.

The project

In this enormous building Airpro made and installed the lightweight, pre-insulated aluminium Pitre Duct ductwork. To reduce handling and ensure accuracy, the ductwork was manufactured on site. The duct and pipework was mostly installed at the unusually high level of six metres.
